Pierce Brosnan, well known for his role as Agent 007, has long been regarded as a Hollywood hottie. Landing the ultimate macho role of James Bond defined his professional life and solidified his place in the film industry.
During his childhood, his father abandoned him, and his mother was obliged to leave him with his grandparents in Ireland while she looked for work in London to support him.
Brosnan recalls spending time with his grandparents as a small child, saying, “There were two lodgers — workingmen, one in the factory and one in the sawmill.”
Even then, he enjoyed watching movies, particularly American Westerns, and aspired to be an actor.
To our delight, his desire came true.
When Brosnan turned 31, he was reunited with his father.
“I spent a Sunday afternoon with him. We spoke about this and that, drank a few pints of Guinness, and said our goodbyes,” he remembered. “I would have liked to have known him. He could whistle and walk well. “That’s all I know about him.”
When Brosnan traveled to London to study drama in 1977, he met Cassandra Harris. At the time, she was still married to Dermot Harris, with whom she had 2 children, Chris and Charlotte.
Brosnan was believed to be enamored by Harris’ charm and beauty. She was 5 years his senior, yet he fell in love with her immediately, and they married five years later. After Harris’ first husband died, Brosnan officially adopted her 2 children. The couple eventually had their own child, Sean.
When Sean was born, the family appeared complete. But then, in 1987, Harris learned of the awful diagnosis. She battled ovarian cancer for four years before dying.
Brosnan said that the night he lost his wife was the longest of his life.
“I felt helpless, confused, and angry. “She was comforting me,” he told People, opening up about his heartbreaking loss.
“She has shaped who I am as a man, an actor, and a father.
“She is eternally ingrained in every fiber of my existence. She’s with me every day. I was extremely fortunate to have met someone like that.”
Years after Harris died, Brosnan endured another loss when his adopted daughter Charlotte was afflicted with the same type of illness as her mother. She, too, passed away, leaving behind two children and a husband. This loss triggered many painful memories for Brosnan, who was devastated.
“Charlotte battled her cancer with grace, humanism, courage, and dignity. Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our beautiful, sweet girl. We pray for her and hope that a treatment for this terrible sickness will be available soon,” the actor stated in a statement.
After Cassandra died, Brosnan struggled to cope with the loss. He did, however, meet someone new: Keely Shaye Smith, his current wife of nearly 20 years.
The actor fell for Kelly the instant he saw her at a Mexican club in 1992. They began dating two years later and married after seven years. He could tell something was strange about her.
“I admire her vitality and passion. She possesses a strength that I couldn’t live without. When Keely looks at me, I feel weak.
It was not long before the couple fell in love. She told People in 2001 that she found Pierce Brosnan “captivating.”
“[He was] tall, dark, and gorgeous – everything that everyone would immediately be drawn to. He had a naughty gleam in his eyes. I thought, “Wow!” Wow!'” Keely stated.
“I see why ladies find him attractive; he is an appealing man. He likes and values ladies. He is educated and attractive, and his true beauty emanates from the spirit. And, like a wonderful wine, he’s maturing nicely.”
Brosnan has admitted that meeting Kelly “saved” him from a terrible despair. He’d do everything to see her, even if his career took off.
“Wherever I traveled in the globe, I missed her, and I would mail her tickets so we could be together. “We just seemed to fit,” Brosnan explained. “I discovered a wonderful woman in Keely Shaye. I couldn’t find a better one if I tried a million times.”
One of the secrets of their long-term marriage is that, regardless of how busy they are in their careers, they always make time for each other.
“My wife and I went on a short road trip to Santa Barbara for a romantic weekend of house hunting and wine tasting. We didn’t listen to music; instead, we just listened to each other’s voices and sorted out the world.”
Keely has gained weight over the years, and many have fat shamed her, but her husband always has her back and makes it clear that he loves her exactly as she is. Without a doubt, she is his greatest love in life.
“Her pals suggested she have weight-loss surgery. However, I appreciate each curve in her body. She is the most attractive woman in my opinion. “She also gave birth to our five children,” the star was quoted as saying.

Perhaps Brosnan’s decision to stay with her surprises people because Hollywood marriages aren’t “meant” to last, but theirs is as strong as a rock.
“Keely and I love backgammon,” the Hollywood star told People. “We’re quite competitive. I taught her how to play, and now she simply trashes me. It’s just incredibly frustrating. It truly, really is.”
In a new interview with Fox, the actor provided his fans an update on their marriage, including what has been the key all these years. “We really like each other. “We love each other a lot,” he explained. “And we’ve been down the road, and we’ve seen many, many hardships as families do, as we all do.”
“But watching someone grow up with you and grow old with you is a very spiritual journey,” he said. “Observing each other’s physical changes, such as hairstyles and waistlines. But it’s the love in your heart.”
Brosnan commended his wife for always being at his side and supporting his work when they met.
“She allows me to go out into the wild blue yonder and do what I do as a man, as an actor, she always has,” he said. “Keely is a journalist and reporter. She is an artist in her own right. And, as a woman, she has created a family for our sons.
We wish this lovely couple a life full of happiness, love, and laughter. They are an excellent example of how true love can thrive in Hollywood!
